Hello there, readers!
Today’s agenda did not feature a workout of any sort. For some reason, yesterday’s TBC class left me very sore today and my back has been hurting for the past couple of days so I decided to give myself the day off. I am hoping to squeeze some cardio in early tomorrow morning before work. (We will see how that goes, you know what they say about the “best laid plans”…) So instead of workouts, let’s talk about shopping instead.
This morning I decided to tag along with my mother when she went to get her haircut
(because I’m a ‘fraidy cat who was to scared to return to the Site of Haircut Massacre alone) so that I could cash in my credit that was granted to me after they chopped my hair to bits. I spent about ten thousand years staring at the walls and walls of OPI and Essie nail polishes in total girlish bliss. Eventually, I picked out three new colors.
I love nail polish and these three colors all struck my fancy today. The blue and red ones are new colors from Essie’s Winter Collection and the pink is actually the color that I had done for my graduation. I wish I could use them all at once, but that would be just plain ridiculous! 😉 Tonight I decided to go for the red one that is actually quite sparkly. It is very holiday-appropriate!
The rest of my credit was used on my number one beauty product staple:
So this is likely to sound a little nutty, but I am obsessed with eyebrows. A little eyebrow OCD, if you will. They need to be even, straight and well-kept at all times. No ifs, ands or buts. I, however, happen to have extremely wild eyebrows that stray in every which way. It wasn’t until just a few years ago that someone suggested that I try this little miracle. I swear, it is the easiest, most natural way to get my ridiculously unruly eyebrows to calm down and I use it every single day. It’s kind of pricey, but it lasts forever. I must say, they have cut the size of the tube in HALF since I first started using it, but the price hasn’t gone down at all. (They thought they had me fooled. WRONG-O, I checked the ounces!) Anyway, Bobbi Brown Natural Brow Shaper. Give it a go.
So after my kid-in-a-candy-store episode at the salon this morning, I still had some time to kill while mom got her haircut so I wandered over to Marshall’s. I have probably mentioned the fact that I am not usually a big fan of Marshall’s. It kind of stresses me out… too much to look at, too much mess, too much disorder. Today, however, I was in total game mode and found some great deals!
First of all, my quest of the season has been to find a pair of tall riding-ish boots. I have been trying to find the perfect pair for about the last five years with absolutely zero success. Recently, I even spent an evening at the mall trying on 10,000 different pairs at a zillion different stores, but still left with nothing. Today, however, I found the Perfect Pair:
The are the perfect height, perfect quality, perfect color. I love, love, love them and the price was fantastic. What’s better yet, there were only three pairs left (the perennial 10s and 6s) and ONE pair in MY size). It was meant to be!
After that, I made my way to the purse section (how did that happen??) and found this little gem:
You can’t really tell (especially against the backdrop of that ridiculous chair!) but it’s sort of a burnt-orange. It has two main pockets and an adorable, retro-print lining.
So as I am sure you can tell, this morning was full of shopping. Moral of the story = skip the gym in favor of shopping and your bank account may never be the same. As I said, I did find crazy deals and the first half of my outing was purchased on gift card credit! I was a very happy camper. I love shopping at this time of the year and getting new late fall/ winter-y goods. Everyone loves a new look for the holiday season!
In other news, this evening my mom and I went to see The Sound of Music at a local high school. Earlier today, I found out that the show was nearly 3 hours long and I panicked. I have a terrible habit of falling asleep on shows and movies even when I’m totally into them. I thought for sure I’d check out on this one, but it was fantastic! It was even more fun because I actually know the woman who played Maria and I had never seen her perform before. She is incredibly talented and I thoroughly enjoyed the show!
Thank you for…
Yesterday, I mentioned the seven days of thanks and today I am thankful for random holiday cheer. Yesterday, the radio station started its 24/7 “holiday gift of music” holiday songs. Even I, in my infinite love of everything Christmas feel that it may be just a TAD early for this (I think Thanksgiving would be perfect), but it definitely makes my workdays more cheerful. I absolutely love the fun and good cheer of the holiday season and it is made all the more special by the holiday movies, songs, specialty foods, celebrations and decorations. It may sound silly, but it really is the happiest season of all!
Tomorrow will bring a new day and a new post! (Setting the alarm clock right now for an early-morning trip to the gym.)
Hope you all had a great night!
